Yes, gardening at Daly House Museum has turned into a year-round activity.
On Saturday, November 28th, a group of garden volunteers enjoyed hot apple cider and cookies after putting up a ‘grove’ of lighted artificial Christmas trees in the yard and a ‘Merry Christmas‘ banner. We hope the display will add some cheer to passing pedestrians and motorists and will shine a little extra light on Daly House Museum. The trees were given to Daly House Museum from Samaritan House where they had been donated from a business, and the City of Brandon has agreed to store the trees when not in use. We are very grateful for this generosity and support.
On Thursday, November 26th, Sylvia Barr attended Crocus Plains School to meet with the current Horticulture class. She expressed gratitude on behalf of Daly House Museum for all their past support and presented a table top display of the 2015 garden highlighting all the plant materials that had been started in the greenhouse at Crocus Plains School. The students and staff enthusiastically agreed to again allow their greenhouse to be used for community support in 2016 – both Daly House Museum and Samaritan House.
We look forward to working with the students – it’s a blast! And their support makes a valuable contribution to Daly House Museum and to the community.
Happy gardening! We have many ideas for enhancements in the garden next year at Daly House – stay tuned.
