An appointment is required when bringing items for donation to the Daly House Museum. No “doorstep donations” please. Do not leave items for donations unattended at the Museum outside regular hours of operation.
In order to accept a donation, the Museum must be able to store and exhibit the items according to our institution policies. Potential donation to the Museum are evaluated according to our collection policy which states “ The Museum will focus on collecting objects, photographs and archival material pertaining to the history and development of Brandon and area.”
Donated material is appraised using our acquisition policy and mandate criteria. If accepted the donor signs a deed of gift, transferring ownership and copyright (if applicable) to the Brandon Museum Inc.
Once accepted, ownership of the artifact or archival material transfers to the Museum. The Daly House Museum cares for the artifacts or archival materials in the collection in perpetuity ensuring the history of the community is preserved for generations.
